ANDY EMLER .PIANO
MARC DUCRET .ELECTRIC GUITAR
CLAUDE TCHAMITCHIAN .DOUBLE BASS
ERIC ECHAMPARD .DRUMS
With a brilliant mix of writing and improvisation, a relevant and generous music, rich compositions where each personality is highlighted while offering a group sound, such is Andy Emler ‘s musical composition. Years of friendships through multiple projects have resulted in a rare and exemplary complicity between these 4 virtuosos who offer us a most stimulating collective performance. Andy Emler wished he could work again with Marc Ducret more regularly. As a reminder : a record in quintet made with Marc in the early 80s... More recently Andy has invited Marc to join the MegaOctet, particularly in London and at the Europa Jazz Festival. In spite of their different musical paths both artists share close links. In addition, the Emler, Tchamitchian, Echampard trio (with their 13 years of existence and 3 CDs) is a formation that extends its influence and its rich singularity throughout Europe. The music, like a slowly ripening fruit, is marked by Andy’s formal requirement and respect for the three musicians who surround him.

This music has everything I need: acoustic instruments, a slow build, layers of atypical harmonies and rhythms being added each pass through, subtle melodies and combinations. Excellent work! Little James

Amazing and immersive. Constructed with such forward motion I forgot where I was and nearly got run over by traffic. Doesn’t get better than that. EmmaH

A year or so ago I downloaded a Big Satan concert on a torrent site. Under the band credits it read "Marc Ducret: Awesomeness." That pretty much sums him up for me. A fabulous sextet release here, with his regular trio augmented by sax, trumpet and trombone. The latter is played by his regular sparring partner Samuel Blaser. Excellent release from an excellent label! binomess
Layered sax and synths combine in this rich, absorbing work that sounds like elegiac lounge music from another dimension. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 13, 2020
