After voluntarily 12 years without assumed leadership, Gilles Coronado returns with a proposal enriched by all his collaboratives, musical and extra-musical experiences today, so much in jazz, pop, rock, chanson, dance and even theater. This new project is very simply called Coronado. In this adventure it is important to develop a collective magma, a protean place of combinations generated by protagonists who are not accidentally chosen by chance.

Actually, the rhythmic scansion, pulsante, was for a long time at the heart of my reflections, in a natural and obvious attraction, and more than the heights of sounds, it is rather the sensations of time which passes, of its internal cutting, which resound particularly in me, specifies Coronado. Then, rather than to envisage it as a temporal prison, I begin to dream together with the other musicians to develop multiple, singular forms, wefts weaved together, about a collective sound state engendered by the absence of specific soloist.

The electronic contributions of some and others allow to parasite on the initial sounds of instruments, to reach a blurring, new material which makes what !
In the end "Au pire, un bien".

Après volontairement 12 années sans leadership assumé, Gilles Coronado revient aujourd'hui avec une proposition enrichie de toutes ses expériences collaboratives, musicales et extra-musicales, autant dans le jazz, la pop, le rock, que la chanson, la danse et même le théâtre. Ce nouveau projet s'appelle très simplement Coronado. Dans cette aventure il importe d’y élaborer un magma collectif, un lieu protéiforme de combinaisons générées par des protagonistes qui ne sont pas choisi par hasard.

De fait, la scansion rythmique, pulsante, a depuis toujours été au cœur de mes réflexions, dans une attirance naturelle et évidente, et plus que les hauteurs de sons, ce sont plutôt les sensations de temps qui passe, de son découpage interne, qui résonnent particulièrement en moi, précise Coronado. Alors, plutôt que d'envisager cela comme une prison temporelle, je me prends à rêver en compagnie des autres musiciens à développer des formes multiples, singulières, des trames tissées ensemble, un état sonore collectif engendré par l'absence de soliste spécifique.

Les apports électroniques des uns et des autres permettent en outre de parasiter les sons initiaux des instruments, pour parvenir à un brouillage, nouvelle matière qui fait quoi !
Au bout du compte "Au pire, un bien".
Une musique forte en mélodies energiques portée par un gros son !

Mary Halvorson is a genius composer and guitarist who has developed her own musical language, and with Code Girl she has incorporated poetry into that language. Incredible compositions and lyricism (each track is a different kind of poem). Halvorson's playing is as great as usual, and all the other members of the band sound great. Robert Wyatt's singing in particular works extremely well in the tracks he's featured. Highly, highly recommend. rat
