Musician was often praised by the press and more particularly by the amateurs of big piano, Jean-Sebastien Simonoviez moves forward serenely on his discography road.
After the beautiful success of "Vents et marées", his previous album released in 2003, the pianist pursues his close collaboration with the label La Buissonne. For this new project, imagined and realized by Gerard de Haro, he is surrounded with three double bassists, with an electric bass player and with a string quartet. Four bass players who enjoy an international fame : Riccardo Del Fra for its attachment in the history of jazz, Steve Swallow to have invented the electric bass in the jazz, Jean-Jacques Avenel for his eternal creative energy and Blocks Phillips for its emancipator's major role of the double bass in the improvised music. Each of these four personalities of the jazz is urged to share songs in duets, with the pianist, which sometimes contain arrangements executed by the string quartet Opus 33. Create in 2004, this quartet consists of young musicians, already artists confirmed and very requested in the field of the classical music and of the contemporary music.
A bright record where the performance, the feeling and the job, inevitably different, all these bass players make us discover in the course of this recording a deep pianist and of an extreme sensibility. The album is constituted by compositions of Jean-Sebastien Simonoviez and of themes chosen in a sophisticated directory. Exceptional arrangements with chords, on a music of Coltrane or small variable-geometry paintings punctuate music in duet. The record finishes by a suite in three parts inspired by the cosmos and on which find themselves all the actors of the project.

Un projet de cordes et d'ivoire.
Musicien souvent loué par la presse et plus particulièrement par les amateurs de grand piano, Jean-Sébastien Simonoviez avance sereinement sur sa route discographique.
Après le beau succès de Vents et marées, son précédent album paru en 2003, le pianiste poursuit sa proche collaboration avec le label La Buissonne. Pour ce nouveau projet, imaginé et réalisé par Gérard de Haro, il est entouré de trois contrebassistes, d'un bassiste électrique et d'un quatuor à cordes. Quatre bassistes qui jouissent d'une renommée internationale : Riccardo Del Fra pour son attachement à l'histoire du jazz, Steve Swallow pour avoir inventé la basse électrique dans le jazz, Jean-Jacques Avenel pour son éternelle énergie inventive et Barre Phillips pour son rôle majeur d'émancipateur de la contrebasse dans la musique improvisée. Chacune de ces quatre personnalités du jazz est conviée à partager des pièces en duos, avec le pianiste, qui comportent parfois des arrangements exécutés par le quatuor à cordes Opus 33. Crée en 2004, ce quatuor est composé de jeunes musiciennes, déjà artistes confirmées et très sollicitées dans le domaine de la musique classique et de la musique contemporaine.
Un disque lumineux où l'interprétation, le feeling et le métier, inévitablement différents, de tous ces bassistes nous font découvrir au fil de cet enregistrement un pianiste profond et d'une extrême sensibilité. L'album est constitué de compositions de Jean-Sébastien Simonoviez et de thèmes choisis dans un répertoire raffiné. Des arrangements exceptionnels avec cordes, sur une pièce de Coltrane ou encore des petits tableaux à géométrie variable ponctuent les pièces en duo. Le disque se finit par une suite en trois parties inspirée par le cosmos et sur laquelle se retrouvent tous les acteurs du projet.
